BEFORE / DURING / AFTER
A small repair.
A clear photo record.
For handymen and small repair contractors: take photos that explain what you found, what you changed and what still needs attention. Use this checklist for a simple client update.
1. Before: show the job and the issue
- Take a wide shot so the client can identify the room, fixture or cabinet.
- Take a close-up of the issue. Add a short caption naming the location and what is visible.
- Record existing damage or access limits without guessing their cause.
2. During: capture what will be hidden
- Photograph relevant work before it is covered, where safe and permitted.
- Write what changed in plain language. Separate an observation from your diagnosis.
- For unfinished items, name the next action, responsible person and agreed due date if known.
3. After: make the result easy to compare
- Take the finished wide shot from roughly the same position as the first photo.
- Add a detail shot of the repair, and a caption explaining what was done.
- State remaining items honestly. A photograph alone does not prove a repair is safe, compliant or accepted.
Example: cabinet-door repair
Before: wide cabinet view and a hinge detail. During: the visible fastening change. After: matching cabinet view, hinge detail and any remaining adjustment.
